Why Summer is My Favorite Season

Why Summer Is My Favorite Season

Sitting on the beach right now, yapping with my best friend about who knows what while sipping a strawberry acai refresher from Starbucks sounds like a dream right now. Literally, I keep having dreams about the beach. I can confidently say that summer is my favorite season. Honestly, it is almost tied with fall, though. For me, summer is ranked No. 1 as my favorite season because of the warm weather, no school and vacations and trips.

As someone who has grown up in Ohio all her life, I always look forward to warm, sunny weather. My least favorite thing about Ohio weather is how inconsistent it is. I never know if it will be warm, cold, sunny, rainy or even snowy. That is another reason why summer is my favorite, because it seems to have the most consistent weather. My favorite events during the summer are tied between my yearly family vacation to Florida and spontaneous trips to Norris Lake with my boyfriend’s family.

Every summer, my family chooses to vacation in Florida because it is the most convenient for my parents and my little siblings. My parents have also allowed me to bring my best friend for the past five years, which always makes the trips more enjoyable. For the past six years, we have stayed in the same condo complex on Rosemary Beach near Panama City. I have enjoyed every vacation there because there are so many different things to do.

Since the condo we stay in is located directly on the beach, we can walk to the beach anytime we want. Between the beach and the condo, there is a huge pool, along with a small hut-style restaurant and bar. When my best friend and I are not hanging out with my family, we typically spend most of our time at the pool. Our favorite things to do at the pool consist of yap sessions, tanning, swimming and drinking too many virgin piƱa coladas.

Traveling to Norris Lake is also one of my favorite things to do during the summer because I make so many memories with my boyfriend and his family each trip. My boyfriend’s family owns a lake house, along with a boat and jet skis. My favorite thing we do is take the jet skis out on the lake. My boyfriend and I usually spend about 60% of our day on them.

Whenever his family takes the boat out, my boyfriend, his sister and I always enjoy tubing. Even better than tubing is the food and ice cream we eat when we stop by a local marina. We typically end the day by hanging out on the back porch, admiring the beautiful view of the lake. I enjoy going to the lake because the trips are usually spontaneous, and we always make the best memories there.

Vacationing to those two locations alone makes summer my favorite season. Aside from family vacations and spontaneous trips, summer offers many opportunities and activities that one cannot do in any other season. I enjoy swimming, tanning, playing pickleball, going to the park, hiking and enjoying ice cream outside.

The experiences, memories and trips I gain during the months of May-August will forever be the reason why summer is my favorite season.

  1. Emma! Your blog made me miss summer so much, especially since I am reading this as it is cold and almost rainy outside. I also love summer because I don't have to dread leaving my house for fear that I'll freeze to death. But I think my favorite season would be fall since I'm a big fan of the crunchy leaves and pumpkin everything. At least spring break is just around the corner, and I am praying it will be at least a little warm.

  3. Hi Emma! Summer is also my favorite season. I could not agree with you more about how annoying this inconsistent weather is. Especially recently I feel like we have been experiencing all four seasons within one week. That lake trip seems like so much fun. Summer is definitely such a freeing season and time for any spontaneous adventure. Have a great spring break and hopefully the nice summer weather is not too far away!
